TC Boxer Wins Michigan Golden Gloves!
23-year-old Chris Franks put together a 5-0 record at the Michigan Golden Gloves tournament to secure the 165-pound novice state title. "The impressive thing about Chris is the first amateur bout he had was this tournament," said his trainer Bill Bustance, who operates Trigger Boxing.
Mind Over Matter
Four-time Golden Gloves state champion Javonn Barnes uses psychology to get the better of his opponents in the ring. First, he messes with their heads. Then, he starts pummeling them with his fists. He just purses his lips and shakes his head in a negative fashion when asked if his best attribute is the jab or right cross. It's the mind games he plays with his opponents that really is the key to his success.
